It was anti-powerful men controlling her life, she wanted so badly to be a mother but men took that choice aways from her. Just another example of all of her traumas the movie depicted, fictional or not.

I looked at comments after watching and many said they didn't know anything about Marilyn so didn't mind the many fictionalized and exaggerated things that didn't really happen in her real life. It made me feel old. Like people not knowing who the Beatles were.
