But after a couple of decades of people telling me they are "independent" and then endlessly defending repub bullshit has left me a bit cynical of anybody who "bothsides" an issue, any issue. The number of people who claim to be independent that actually takes any progressive policies or arguments seriously runs in the less than 10% range in my experience.
