Grasped at straws to mock Schumer and Pelosi.

It was cruel and stupid. The rest of the piece wasn’t as bad as I was dreading based on comments here. The young writers think sincerity in a person is something to be mocked.

This is a trend in American culture.

Case in point: the ads where they tell you not to be like your old parents. It involves mocking simple gestures like complimenting servers or being helpful to others. Yup, something has been changing in humanity. It’s called, oddly enough, humanity. Apparently it’s no longer cool to be kind. Manners are mocked and cruelty is the order of the day.
