(13,642 posts)25. Medicare Advantage means that profit-driven insurance executives make your medical decisions
for anything major. For example, if you have cancer insurance companies will make you try the least expensive treatment first even if your doctor does not believe it will work. You also need referrals to higher care specialists, who will have to be in network and may not be the best or the ones you would have chosen.
The solution is to improve original Medicare to include the services provided by Advantage plans but leave the program in government hands, not in private insurance hands that are driven solely by profits.
