3. I have both the Kindle Fire and the older E ink Kindle with a keyboard...

In my opinion the black and white E ink Kindles are better for reading but internet access leaves something to be desired. I find it hard to read dead tree books now as the search features of the Kindle and the ease of finding a definition of an unusual word without stopping to pick up a dictionary makes reading far more enjoyable.

I've had the Fire for a week and I am very impressed.

No, The Fire is not an I Pad. It's not a phone, nor is it a camera but if you have access to a Wi-Fi network, it connects smoothly with the internet. You can download plenty of free or reasonably priced apps including a good selection of games.

I like the smaller size of the Kindles as I can easily hold either in one hand. I enjoy reading in my bed at night before I fall asleep and if I find something that I would like to research while reading my black and white Kindle, I just fire up the Fire and go on line.

You can buy both a back and white Kindle and the Fire for less than an I Pad. They definitely complement each other. If you are a Amazon prime member there are thousands of movies you can watch on the Fire. I already have several hundred books on my older Kindle and I can download them without any cost to the Fire

Since I am retired and rarely travel, owning the two different Kindles works for me. If I was on the road like my son in law who drives an 18 wheeler, the I Pad would be the better choice.

I agree. Technology is cool.
