and while to a large degree that is their own damn fault, the noxious effects of all that "doing it wrong" spill out of their lives and into all of ours through their now-further-deranged public behaviors and voting patterns.

Most of us would prefer not to have that happen. Most of us would like to limit the harm caused to our lives by idiots on Twitter. Whether we are on Twitter ourselves or not.
