Sufficient civics education is being taught in most of our schools. It would show if it were being taught.
One semester is not even close to enough information absorption time for them to grasp how intertwined their our social contract is with their daily lives and what it really means to have citizenship and the responsibilities that go with it.
Sorry, the educators in my family, and friends who are life-long educators, would vehemently disagree with your conclusion.
As an educated, participating citizen I am severely dissatisfied with the anemic level of information offered to students at any time during K-12.
