5. I think the Fed. Govt. does actually define the true meaning of marriage:

From a federal standpoint, marriage is the right to file taxes jointly. It is the right to collect spousal benefits from Social Security, and the right to collect survivor benefits from Social Security.

State governments further define it. It clarifies the heirs in case a spouse dies intestate (sp?). It allows a spouse to visit a patient, to discover the spouse's medical condition, to make certain decisions.

I fail to see how the rights of someone who is not me, should cause me to burst into tears. Hartzler is a strange person.
