5. Once acceptance that death is no longer preventable

among both patients and family/friends comes to pass, it is common for those surrounding them to hope for it to come quickly. I think this is very normal, but sometimes it causes guilt down the road as grief really sets in. Many hospice staff will warn of this coming emotion when speaking with the visiting families and friends.

May all be at peace and accept that the suffering has ended in its own time.
