Salame donated, this is a tenuous accusation from a presumed criminal. Could just be a liberal and a conservative working together in a partnership kinda deal, right?

Assuming also the headline is accurate i.e RePuQ pols are also tangibly 'avoiding the subject' ... what you suggest would seem to be why Republican pols don't want to talk about it either, agreed.

But the BASE? They already distrust the 'GOP Establishment', so this presents a conundrum for the leadership in Congress.

What I'm getting at, roundabout-wise ... is that the GOP pols probably did indeed get this money otherwise they'd be JUMPING UP AND DOWN about this situation.

But ultimately they don't want to have to give it back.

It also might mean that the GQP pols somehow collaborated in making sure this guy was protected so he could build his fortune ... and then donate to them.
