The defendant was paid in amounts under $10,000 to avoid reporting requirements, a crime known as "structuring." This is another indication of his "mens rea".

As a retired military officer he may also be recalled to active duty for Court-Martial and be reduced in rank and retirement pay. And the Australian government may have the writ to de-naturalize him. He wrecked his family's future too.

But more importantly, how many more of these jerks are out there, willing to sell out their country for a buck?
