3. I really don't think they were thinking that far ahead, or at all.

As an old fellow I knew in Mississippi would've said, they had their dander up. Intellectually, they knew full well that they themselves were toting cameras recording everything. They knew their squadcars had dashcams. They knew there were almost certainly other cameras nearby, such as the pole camera that clearly showed the beating they delivered.

They didn't care. They knew all of these things, but they were so angry they didn't care. They just wanted to make Tyre Nichols suffer, so they did. And now here they are, staring down a long prison sentence. I hope that's what they get, too. Life behind bars for each of them seems fair to me.
