On the other hand, it's not like the salary was a secret, only to be disclosed upon taking his seat on the bench. It's the position that matters, and if that means yiou have to live in a modest row house in Alexandria, then so be it. You're serving your country, not vying for higher place on your country club's totem pole.

If the first consideration when being considered for the Supreme Court is "what's in it for me?" then you're in the wrong line of work, period.
