Okay, we have a brilliant campaign team...how do we hold on to it? [View all]

President Obama's campaign is being acknowledged by pundits and by Republicans as having been both strategically and tactically brilliant; focusing on demographic micro-targets (where the "new" voters were), and focusing relentlessly on voter registration and turnout. The problem is that this team is tied to the President; it wasn't in place when we lost the House and Governorships in 2010, and it won't automatically be in place in 2016. One of the major problems I've had with our overall political system is that we continually reinvent it: each major candidate builds their own team and model from scratch. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. How do we get the Democratic Party to build an in-house skills bank for the next candidates to use?
