I got eggs from the farmer's market, a local vendor for $5. But in the chain grocery stores they were running about $6 for the cage free eggs I like.

But I just got a dozen to hold me over untill my hens stay laying and they have come down to $3 a doz as of yesterday.

I have thought this bird flu scare was kind of weird because I was able to buy baby chicks for the same as I got them last year.....but I did pre-order and that gave me a discount.

For the first time I ordered French Marans along with my usual favorite the Rhode Island Red, white and cross. I can't wait to get them in next month. Baby chicks are the cutest.
