It should be very very hard to get back into law enforcement once you've been fired.

I know a police officer who is a friend of the family, he was suspended from one department for lying about an officer involved shooting. Then he was fired from there for drawing his gun on someone when he was off duty outside a bar he was drinking at. Was a prison guard for a year, but landed another gig as a police officer, he was fired from that when he got pulled over super drunk driving with his 18 month old daughter in the car. He spent a year or 2 straightening that all out working as a guard in the jail, and now he's been deemed fit to serve again and it's just a matter of time before he lands another job on the force. Same guy used to post on Facebook every morning while he was driving into work, "Time to go ruin some lives today."

Too many get 4th and 5th chances.
