Rush and the other radio/TV wingnuts have made fortunes fanning the flames of a small coalition of NeoCon, Neofascist, Christian extremist, and other ultra right-wingers. That coalition seized control of the GOP and forced out every single moderate politician and replaced them with people who thought the same way they did. As a result, the GOP no longer represents REAL mainstream conservative thinking of any kind.
