But I think your question needs rephrasing first.

Who here wants "The American Way of Life"? From what I can tell, being a "good american" involves following approved authority's version of reality and getting in trouble if you don't. I like living in a bigger world than the one they want to box us into.

If we can assume you meant "The Greatest Threat to Sane People," I'm going to have to go with Gov't Secrecy. The fact that you can't go to "your Gov't" and get a straight answer is possibly the root cause of all the other symptoms.

There's no transparency, no oversight, and no repercussions for breaking the "law"...because according to them, it never happened, or if it did, there was a good reason for it that they can't tell us.
