44. I just read in another post that the story was in high times magazine

Which I did read at the time, it’s probably where I read it, I had always remembered that it was in a crappy men’s magazine but unless it ended up in one of those it had to be high time magazine.

I had a subscription to high times from 1977 through the late 80’s and still have the issue from late 1979 or early 1980 that they stated that the pot of the years was Purple Cush from Hawaii.

The same buds that a friend from Hawaii was sending me in Dutch Harbor Alaska at the same time, big banana shaped buds about 6-8 inches long, I sold to city council members, the mayor, a policeman or two and other community leaders.

My sales doubled in the next week, pot was legal to use and grow in your own home at the time, you just couldn’t legally buy or sell it.

We had a head shop on Main Street called “The Magic Mushroom”, those were the days, 44 years ago….
