In reply to the discussion: Lesley Stahl's 60 Minutes interview with MTG: A spectacular failure [View all]wnylib
(25,355 posts)It is on YouTube. I would not call Stahl's handling of the interview "brutal." She did give some pushback, especially on Ukraine, but the interview also gave MTG a platform for her slogan that Ukraine is not the 51st state.
When they were on the topic of MTG calling school shootings fake, Stahl let a good opportunity pass. She could have played MTG's harrassment of David Hogg.
A brutal interview would have included questions about Greene asking for a pardon regarding J6. It would have shown the harassment of Hogg to Greene, face to face, in response to MTG's insistence that she takes school shootings seriously. A good follow up question would have been to ask where Greene stands on gun legislation.
Stahl did expose Greene's arrogance, but for many people, that will be seen as confidence.
I can see why Greene had praise for the interview after it ended. It felt good to her at the time. I'm sure she believed that she had asserted herself positively with Stahl. But wouldn't that have been before Stahl's team added the videos and voiceovers that contradicted some of Greene's lies?
Overall, not as bad as claimed, by some people, but not brutal, either, IMO.
