from the invading hordes.

After 20 years of not being able to shoot someone, they're pissed at being lied to - only they don't believe that's why they're mad - cause they're idiots and don't know how to process anything beyond "I'm hungry" or "I have to poop".

So their state passes "stand your ground" laws and now they're convinced the hordes are coming otherwise we wouldn't need such a law. And guess what - another 5 years passes and they still haven't shot someone. Now they're really pissed.

They've been stewing for 25 years in anger and hate and fear and goddammit I need to protect my house where is the horde coming to steal my garden gnome?!?!?!

So a 16 year old kid or a carload of college students or a FedEx driver shows up and today's the day.

It's all a goddamn mess. But they'll keep selling guns and hate and fear and if a couple of kids get blown away - well, that's the price to be paid. It's not like the NRA or Fox or the gun manufacturers or their elected toadies who pass shitty laws are liable.

(I guess I'm mad too - but I'm fucking smart enough to know what I'm mad about. Pardon my French.)
