without also seeing the specter of Sarah Palin lurking in the background ...Garland appointed Jack Smith after the 2022 midterms..the MAGAs had flipped the House and Garland was savvy enough to understand he had to insulate the two investigations (January 6/classified documents) to prevent Trump ass-kissers Jordan/McCarthy from gaining access to the ongoing investigations...so he appointed an independent prosecutor to oversee and cocoon the two probes....Garland wasn't wrong...Jordan and McCarthy both wrote letters to the DOJ demanding any and all evidence be turned over to the incoming judiciary committee...I suspect Jim and Kev were more concerned about their culpability in the insurrection than Trump's...
