9. "Yankee" is to me the primo example.

The song "Yankee Doodle" was obviously meant to demean the colonists. Thus, defiant adoption of a nickname that was intended to be derogatory has a long and storied history in the US.

The idea that "you created this 'Brandon' and now you find you can't withstand the powers of Dark Brandon" is kind of amusing.
