6. my father spent part of his youth living with a relative who owned a chicken ranch

and his job was to kill the chickens to go to market.

Never, not once, did I as a child, ever eat chicken. It wasn't allowed.

Even when my father would attend his weekly kiwanis club meeting, where they typically served chicken dinners, they always had meatloaf or something else for my dad.
