Sadly, the increase in the frequency of mass shootings that we're seeing right now might be what finally gets Republicans in Congress to vote for a ban on assault weapons.

Not out of concern for children and other regular people getting slaughtered, mind you, but out of concern that it has gotten so bad that even Republican voters will not vote for them if they do not support an assault weapons ban.
