(13,992 posts)The White House needs to support Boehner. Conservative Republican that he is, he's one of the last "adults in the room" in the Republican Party. If Boehner falls victim to a "palace coup," you can bet that whoever takes his place will be even worse.
Edit: Just did some looking. I went to the League of Conservation Voters Congressional Scorecard because the environment should be at least a little more non-partisan than, say, abortion rights. And some of those Republicans are hunters and have a healthy respect for habitats.
Not so much. The highest-ranked Republican was Chris Smith from New Jersey, who clocked in at only 60%. Better than many Democrats, but still not very promising for the "head of the class." Smith and Frank LoBiondo (also of New Jersey) were the only two Republicans who came in at better than 50%.
Just for the record, Jane Harmon of California was the lowest-ranked Democrat at just 11%. Really? 11%?
