(38,972 posts)from a group of nearly adult (17 year old) black males puts them in danger. Whether from someone else calling 911 and pulling police into the situation - or crowd members who act to protect the white woman from the "swarm" of black nearly adult teens.
That isn't to say it is never appropriate for her to react as she did. Whether it was appropriate in this situation, from my perspective, depends on what happened before the video started. The two tell very different stories and, in one instance, her reaction (from my perspective) is justified - in another I don't believe it was.
At the moment, I tend to believe the boys were already straddling the bikes and she approached them. She had every right to, because they no longer had a right to possess the bikes. She had every right to rent the bike she did. And they had no right to stop her. But that feels very different to me than her renting a bike and the boys aproaching (swarming) her to prevent her leaving.
