70. Armed Services Radio isn't broadcast to US-based troops

Armed Forces Radio and Television Service was established many, many years ago to bring A Touch Of Home to our men and women stationed overseas. They’ve done some innovative things - for instance, the first 24-hour radio station in the entire world was AFN-Berlin. (How this happened was the Stasi had AFN’s broadcast schedule and when AFN dropped fro the night the Stasi would come up on the same frequency playing anti-American propaganda until dawn. The commander of AFN got the US Commander Berlin to listen to the radio one night; the USCOB ordered AFN to never go off the air again.)

In the US we have AM radio to provide our soldiers with their rabble rousing needs.
