Anyone who closes their mind and literary experience to his works, or the works of Twain and others, is MISSING a rich Historical, Social, and Cultural experience.
Like many other words and phrases, "Tar Baby" CAN and HAS been used as a racial epithet, but this is not ALWAYS the case.
In the post above, it was used in its correct context.
Once you touch the Tar Baby, you can't let go.
The harder you try, the worse it gets.
It gets ALL over you, and you can't wash it off.
