I read about that some years ago, and it's interesting.
I have a glass carafe...maybe I should try a steel one.

I have a Nespresso and use Capmesso foil lids to reuse the pods dozens of times each.

About 40 cents per cup for K-pods bought at Costco. That's hardly in the Starbucks league.
