(34,843 posts)I was horribly attacked by fire ants on June 9th. Couldn't wear footwear for almost a month! Meanwhile the temps starting climbing real high and I was stuck inside. When I finally emerged in early July, I hadn't acclimated. Then, last week I got a chemical burn while outside. Meanwhile, my car is in the garage for a few weeks (Got in a wreck - guy messed up my passenger side door) The rental is hard to drive.
I went swimming several times, the water was hot! Been to the gym a few times. I go shopping at Wal Mart etc. But I just have not acclimated this summer. Last summer, I started walking in May, so when the real heat set in, I was adjusted, but this year it's too late. Plus I really don't want to take the nice rental to the parks (vandals etc)
So, here I am in my AC. Summer can be depressing. I think it's a form of SAD.
There is no relief in sight here either. Temps are 100-105, but we are humid here. Currently it is 104 degrees with a dewpoint of 65. Misery 24/7.
I find when I'm in a funk, going just to Walgreens or a Dollar Store or Walmart helps. (Pick any store that isn't too big. Pick your favorite store etc)
I buy a little bit of junk. (Make up, bandages, clothes, containers, fruit..whatever)
After my kids were born, my first outing was always to Walgreens.
