And a lot of Republicans are only too happy to spurn him. But being a politician means playing politics and I don't see anything wrong with this.
At least Obama can say, "I met with the leader of the opposition." Forget that he was never that except in the most transitory way, it's the image that counts.
And sure, I sort of agree with you that there is another, less useful image involved with Romney, that of giving personal time to an imbecile and a racist.
Still, politics is a funny business.
And emasculating Romney emasculates the GOP itself in a subtler way.
