(60,187 posts)35. Actually, news reports say Texas is one of the states listed in petitons to secede.
All told, petitions have been filed on behalf of 20 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

The petitions were filed through the We the People White House website and it promises:
If a petition meets the signature threshold (25,000 signatures in 30 days), it will be reviewed by the Administration and we will issue a response.
Each state has "peacefully" asked to be removed from the United States of America so that they can create their own government. As of Monday evening, Texas has reached the threshold with over 32,000 votes. Louisiana has approximately 18,000 signatures and needs 7,000 more by December 7.
