In Western history, trousers or pants for men didn't come into style broadly until quite recently, say 17th century - because they're harder to make and require more cloth to fit, and cloth was very labor intensive: tunic and hose was the preferred style for most men. You see vestiges of Roman, Byzantine, and medieval men's outfits in Catholic and Anglican clerical vestments - and in judicial robes.

If people want to see gender-based clothing, I think cis-males should go all the way and adopt the New Guinean Koteka
