The Senate was established as the senior branch of the legislature. Senators should dress appropriately.

He is not washing his car or mowing the lawn, and should dress in business attire.

If you want to be considered a serious person, you should dress appropriately and an adult man should know better than this.

This is an unnecessary distraction, and all concerned should cut out the crap and do their jobs
