Schumer kept the Senate in session to consider a bunch of nominations [View all]
and, possibly, get around Tuberville's blockade on military nominations:
First, after the vote on the stopgap, it appears that a lot of the Senate cleared out. But Schumer stayed on and called up a number of nominations via unanimous consent--and no one objected.
Cloture was voted on two judges this way. It's not completely clear to me whether they were then confirmed.
But even more significantly, Schumer then called up a bloc of military nominations. I think, but am not certain, that these are the nominations that Tuberville has been blocking. This is from the transcript of the action taken before the Senate adjourned for the night:
MR. PRESIDENT, I ASK UNANIMOUS CONSENT THAT THE SENATE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING NOMINATIONS, ALL NOMINATIONS PLACED ON THE SECRETARY'S DESK IN THE AIR FORCE, ARMY, MARINE CORPS AND NAVY, THAT THE NOMINATIONS BE CONFIRMED EN BLOC, THE MOTIONS TO RECONSIDER BE CONSIDERED MADE AND LAID UPON THE TABLE WITH NO INTERVENING ACTION OR DEBATE, THAT NO FURTHER MOTIONS BE IN ORDER TO ANY OF THE NOMINATIONS AND THAT THE PRESIDENT BE IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED OF THE SENATE'S ACTIONS.
