is desperately holding on to the idea of getting someone in as speaker who will demand an end to funding for the Federal cases in exchange for not shutting down the government and keeping it closed. I don't know whether it's possible to preempt such a move by administratively allocating a large chuck of money to Jack Smith from DOJ etc. using reallocation now before any shutdown negotiations.
