There are no good choices who could win. And there will be no perceptible difference between Johnson as speaker and McCarthy before him, except Johnson won't have the sway/connections with donors and the GOP machinery that the former speaker had, which will not help them in '24. The devolution of the GOP to this was inevitable and unsurprising.
