(36,437 posts)could be the scene for such faith-based nonsense as we see in this thread. It really is a testament to the power of faith to envelop and possess any practice whatsoever. In this case, the faith-reasoning is easy: because the unseen force (God, Anonymous, etc.) acts in unseen ways and is all-powerful, it can both interfere and hide its own interference - it can both act and erase all evidence of its own action (other than the results, which prove the action regardless of the presence of evidence).
That the reasoning for believing this claim is God-reasoning is clear enough. We even get the "God doesn't have to answer to (mere mortals like) YOU" statements that are part and parcel of half-assed theology. That such God-reasoning should attach itself to one of the most verifiable and scientifically-geared practices in modern culture (programming) is what's really remarkable here.
