(1,068 posts)I totally think WV's Senate Seat is hopelessly lost, but that doesn't mean I don't want someone to bother to show up and run. Having an alternative is important, even if we know the outcome for now. We'll keep losing until we don't, and we have no idea when that could be, so having an alternative is important even when we don't think we stand a chance.
I'm happy to support Shrewsbury even while being convinced he hasn't a chance. Showing up is a minimum to at least demonstrate there's an alternative.
I also live in a red state that many write off, but I retain hope that things can turn around if we can somehow tap the non-voters. GOP has little shot for those votes, but we have the gravitas to maybe get some of them. With right-wingers dying off with COVID and whatever else, at some point, it will be enough. We need someone in place for whenever that could be.
