(15,675 posts)First time was in high school, and I was part of a student exchange where students from Puebla, Mexico, stayed with our families for 2 weeks, and we went down from Kansas and stayed with their families. I was the only guy on the trip either way. After flying into Mexico City and getting in a school van to go to Puebla, I immediately saw a Bimbo delivery truck and turned to one of my schoolmates and said, "You are the biggest piece of bread I know!" This of course confused her until I pointed out the truck, and she laughed. It soon became a private joke that spread throughout the group except to the person on the trip who found something to complain about everywhere we went. At the end of our two weeks there, she was going crazy, whining, "Whyyyyyyyy do you keep calling me a piece of breeeeee-eeeeead?"
Second time was in college to take a class for a major in Spanish. That bear is pretty ubiquitous in Mexico, and little signs with the bear saying, "Aqui Hay Bimbo," are found outside large supermarkets as well as little corner stores (Here there is Bimbo). I had three of the girls on the trip that I became good friends with pose next to a sign on a corner store, telling them I wanted a shot of them with the picturesque background. My professor walked by when I was taking it and just smiled at me, knowing my true target.
