given the rise of MAGA and all of the reichwing elections globally in recent years. If we can't stop it here in 2024, the world looks to become a collection of totalitarian fascist oligarchies. When I was growing up in the 1950's and '60's I always assumed that it would be the total opposite - a steady trend toward socialism, if not world government, in the best interests of everyone except the 1%. Obviously I didn't understand the operational dark side of human nature.
