GOP in peril

EDITOR: The ineffective, dangerous alliance of Donald Trump and his MAGA political supporters has brought the Republican Party to the brink of extinction. Recent losses in national and local elections tell the story.

If the two-party system is to survive in the U.S., the country must have a functioning Republican Party with a political platform to present to the voters; one that is responsive to election outcomes and the needs of all Americans.

Trump and his MAGA followers have rung the death knell for the GOP. The combination of legal actions and Trump’s obvious deterioration are driving large financial donors away from the party. And, as evidenced by an abundance of video showing voter response to the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, overturning abortion rights, Trump is on the wrong side of the issue.
