(528 posts)My theory is this is Corporate America's way of testing the waters of making the 4th Thursday of November a day people work like they normally do instead of getting a paid holiday to spend with families. They're starting to see how far they can push it. I've got to believe the greedy corporations are getting tired of paying people for 2 days when they don't work; when you consider this is the only 3-day work week of the year, most years. They'll figure if the retail outlets can get people to work on that day, why not expand it to the non-retail sector. And I'm talking the lower-level employees will be affected by this; the executives will still treat it like it's always been. I gotta think, though, there'd be quite the rebellion if people had something taken away that they've always had. But I can't help but think that's the direction we're headed. I hope I'm wrong.
