35. "Kurisumasu" in Japan is an entirely different thing...

While only less then 1% of the population is Christian, the rest are Shinto~Buddhist, and still Celebrate Kurisumasu as a romantic holiday much like we do Valentines day. Gifts are exchanged, dinners are served to loved ones.. for some reason the Japanese adopted Colonel Saunders image as a Japanese Santa Claus. I suspect that KFC pushed for this with the holiday packages.

The best part about "kurisumasu" is the cake!!

The holiday itself is really minor compared to the big holiday which is New Years. Many people still work on Kurisumasu, but its like here in that people buy trees, and decorate and buy gifts.

In Japanese they say: Meri Kurisumasu to Yoi Otoshi yo! (Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year!)
