Why wouldnt a standard DOJ investigation (which wouldnt be public unless it had progressed to the point of a target letter) suffice?

I think Garland was given the AG job as consolation for not being allowed on the Supreme Court.

My guess is there are probably not many, if any left at all. Treason of the highest order and the DOJ can't be bothered.
