74. I have a chess set made from elephant ivory.

My Dad bought it back in the 50's when he was doing an "Around the World" cruise when he was in the Navy.

I am a bit horrified and saddened by that. But I'll never get rid of it, and I do display it. I'd NEVER buy a new one, but an elephant died for that chess set. We can't bring them back, but we can appreciate the beauty of what was made.

My Dad always expressed regret and guilt about that. But I can't see anything positive about tossing the set away like it's garbage.
