I have to suggest that the passivity of people who read the posts of others and refrain from contributing their own thoughts: ... well it may be that the difficulty of doing so on a cellphone is the real reason.
When I'm away from home for a few days, and have no access to my desktop computer, I'll occasionally use my cell to check in and read the main stories on DU, but I WILL NOT post a comment. In many cases I won't even click on the "rec" button. For me - and for many of us olds - doing anything on one's cellphone is a major pain in the ass.
Needless to say, these daily posts that I've submitted to DU for the last 6 years have all originated on my desktop computer. I have a big screen, a keyboard, a mouse, and other conveniences that are lacking on my phone. If I lost my computer for whatever reason, you guys would never hear a squeak from me.
