(164,038 posts)I have been horrified to see the network advance Alicia Menendez so quickly, being the daughter of New Jersey "Democratic" Senator, Cuban-American Robert Menendez, who's once again being heavily investigated for corruption. I'm convinced the network hopes to attract viewers from the US Cuban-American "exile" base, which controls Florida politics and its 29 electors, as well as heavy influence in New Jersey, etc. That group has had political clout which far exceeds any justification. The Cuban "exiles" have retained their power simply by being unique pawns in play in the State Department's maniacal obsession with Cuba which actually has existed since the late 1800's, long before the Cuban people rebelled against the last US puppet, bloody dictator Fulgencio Batista.
Alicia has been propelled up the ladder at MSNBC rapidly from her first day, while she clearly lacks skills, experience, or simple personal presence to justify her appearing anywhere in their lineup. She stands in stark contrast to their other hosts.
Michael and Simone are warm, open, bright, engaging, personally invested, concerned, knowledgeable, conscientious. Michael has clearly leaped totally free of his early Republican political association well before they all went totally criminally insane together. He has been a popular guest with other MSNBC hosts for years, always bringing something worthwhile to bear in conversations.
