(3,213 posts)It does not mock race, sex, orientation or any other protected class, therefore, IMO it is not dehumanizing any more than 'Limey' or 'Yank', which were also derived from something related to the group itself. Even now, 'Nazi', still commonly used to describe all members of the German military from 1933-1945, is a safe term there as long as you don't call another member one. BUT...
DKos is a private entity, therefore they can set the conditions of posting there as can any other business insisting you have shirts and shoes before entering*. So I don't use the term there. Doesn't mean I understand why that's the hill they've chosen, but okay. I already removed them from my adblock whitelist and I won't be sending money their way, because I don't appreciate the energies spent micropolicing this while AP spews much worse (such as describing people crossing the border as 'terrorists') right there in the front page and gets rec'd for it.
The R's are not the only group with contradictory thinking.
*I always wanted to walk in carrying shirts and shoes in my hand because the signs never stipulate that you have to be wearing them, do they?
